Fruit & Nut Buckwheat Porridge

for a fresh start of the day / za svež začetek dneva

ingredients

For 1 person:

  • buckwheat groats (1,5 handful)

  • plant-based milk (approx. 150 ml)

  • water (approx. 100 ml)

  • apple

  • cinnamon

  • lemon juice (for the taste)

Toppings (optional)

  • cherries

  • walnuts

  • strawberries

  • maca root powder

  • vanilla (a splash)

  • rastlinsko mleko (cca. 150 ml)

  • voda (cca. 100 ml)

  • jabolko

  • cimet

  • limonin sok (za okus)

Dodatki (po želji)

  • češnje

  • orehi

  • jagode

  • maca v prahu

  • vanilija


method

Put buckwheat groats, milk and water in a small pot at medium heat. Bring to the boil and cook on a low heat. Cut the apple into smaller, thin pieces and put them into a pot after a few minutes. Season it with cinnamon and other ingredients of your choice. Simmer for another 8 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed. Do not overcook.

When cooked, add a little lemon juice to give them a fuller flavour.

Play around with the toppings of your choice. Usually I top it with fresh berries, some nuts (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts), a splash of vanilla and a dash of maca powder.
